A music video style glimpse into our first 10 days of production.
We are happy to have Luzelena Mendoza starring as “Elena” in Duende: Suit of Lights. The role will not be too much of a stretch for Luz, as she plays an otherworldly spirit who enchants our Matador. Here’s a video for the song “Juniper” from Luz’s band Y La Bamba, proving she’s no stranger to the supernatural transformation genre.

Our beloved Matador, Gilberto Martin Del Campo, has adapted three sections of Steinbeck’s East of Eden, and will be directing two shows this week at the Little Church Theater in NE Portland. Click the link for show times and tickets.
Turns out Portland, OR is the perfect place to cast the lead role for a movie about an outlaw Matador, as Portland happens to be the home of Gilberto Martin Del Campo- a dead ringer for the graceful yet tortured soul of Huerfanito De Santiago, Matador in Duende: Suit of Lights. This movie would not be remotely possible without Gilberto. Here’s a short sample of his work…
Fresh off a tour to promote the excellent new album “A Monument” with his band Tu Fawning, lead roles in two feature films with Portland filmmaker EP Davee under his belt in recent years, and an impressive slew of other creative endeavors to his credit, we are grateful that The Joe Haege is making time to play fast-talking-fallen angel-turned-rodeo clown Sonny Peth in Duende: Suit of Lights. Ladies, gentlemen, mere mortals…Mrs. Edna Vasquez. We are pleased to announce that Edna will play the role of Lola in Duende: Suit of Lights. Okay, we are honored and bursting at the seams to have Edna on board for this film. Coincidentally, the character of Lola has a few vocal performances in the film. Filmmaker, book maker, joke maker, maker outer, outer space cowboy, and so much more, Mikey Kampmann will play Jimmy “the kid” Parker in Duende: Suit of Lights. He’s been down since day one and has the blog to prove it…
Globetrotting with Bacon Dan! Dan Considine will be playing Wiley “Action” Jackson, a shape-shifting rodeo clown, in Duende: Suit of Lights. We will all wake on set (too early) as happier people with Dan’s inspiring presence and perfectly cooked bacon at the breakfast table! We are very excited about this. Here is a little taste of Dan’s work.
Dementia
A short film by students at PSU, starring our very own Bruce Jennings and Jennifer Rogers. Bruce will play Sheriff Frank Stubbs and Jennifer will be playing Darlene Flowers, “17th queen of the rodeo” in Duende: Suit of Lights. Turns out this won’t be the first time they’ve worked together.
